Opening Hours / Booking Times
Our normal opening hours are 7.15am til 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Upon enrolment you will be asked to nominate a 'booking time', the time you will attend on a daily basis. We trust these hours will suit you and you will be able to support the staff by adhering to your booking time.
Extended Hours
We are licensed to be open for extended hours, so if you find that you require care for your children beyond our opening hours, we can negotiate a fee for the hours you require. Prior booking is required, please speak to Shirlene or Sue.
Midday Dinners
We provide nutritious hot lunch meals for your children to give them lots of energy, as well as providing breakfast, morning tea, afternoon tea, and a late snack. All meals are prepared on site. Please see the menu displayed by our front door.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on Te Whaariki, the early childhood curriculum, but we also add our own personalities and the interests of your children to have a fun, challenging programme. We teach the Christian meaning of Easter and Christmas, as well as having a bicultural focus to our programmes. We believe in routines for children, so we will attempt to keep to these at all times.
Personal Portfolio Books
All children in our care will have personal portfolio books to show how they are developing and learning through these important childhood years. These books will include photos of your child at Midcity, and will have examples of their artwork. Learning stories and observations will also be collected to show how they have grown in these informative years. These books will be available for you and your family at all times, and will help the staff to plan appropriately for your child.
Family Focus / Functions
We believe that siblings attending the centre should have the opportunity to spend time together. We will do this whenever possible.
You can expet a fun-filled event every term that will involve the whole family. Some of our events so far have included 'The Annual Midcity Auction', our yearly Christmas party, an evening disco and a champagne breakfast. If you have an idea, chat to Sue. These are great times to get to know your childs friends and the staff better.
Trips and Walks
We will be taking the children for a walk every fortnight when the weather allows! We also plan a trip for the older children at least once per term, for example, our recent trips to Butterfly Creek, the fire station and Hamilton Zoo, as well as regular trips to the river, the movie theatre and to local schools. For our kindy children (3-5 years), we attend a weekly gym session during school terms at 'Junior Gym'.
Nappies and Hugs for Free!
We will cater to your childs every need possible. We will never be as important as you, their parent, but while they are with us we will love them and hug them, we will ensure every physical need is met from nappies to lunch to snuggly sleeps, we will challenge their minds and build their self-esteem. We will do this, if you will let us, in full partnership with you.
