Staff
The Management Team
We are NOT owned by a large Corporation. Our Trustee's and Licensee will be at the centre every week and available to talk with parents at anytime.
Our Licensee
Viki Johnson BEd, DipTch(ECE), DipTch(Primary), Mum
Viki has diplomas in Early Childhood and Primary teaching, and an Education Degree. She is responsible to the Ministry of Education and makes all the final decisions on policies. She also has two children of her own. Viki is currently studying towards her Masters in Education.
Adminstration Manager Dip ECCE, Dip Nursing, Mum
Shirlene has three precious children and has worked in the early childhood sector for over 15 years. She has Supervised centres before and is passionate about quality care. Shirlene has a special interest in children with addional needs and worked for the Mckenzie Centre.
Centre Manager
Sue Cross BTch (1st class hon),Reg,Cert in Child Protection,Mum.
Sue is an energetic and passionate teacher with over 30 years experience in the early childhood sector. She has a friendly, cheerful disposition and is committed to providing a nurturing environment focused on developing children's enthusiasm for learning.
Sue has two children of her own and recognises the importance of fostering warm reciprocal relationships with families and welcomes parents contributions as partners in their childs learning.
Teachers
Erena Humphry Nat Cert ECCE,BTch(ECE),Mum.
Erena is the team coordinator in the kindy area, and is passionate about working with children who are getting ready for school. Erena has a daughter who is school age so has been through this transition before as a parent, she also has a 2 year old son. Erena enjoys creating a fun environment in which she can foster children's natural curiosity and interests.
Jason Forsyth Training for DipTch(ECE)
Its’ so great to have a male in our centre! Jason is loved by all the children, so has worked throughout the centre with all three age-groups of children. Jason works with the kindy age group, and the children really enjoy and benefit from having a male role model around!
Louise Stone BA(Honours)
Louise is a very energetic and lively part of the centre, and has many talents. She works with our kindy age group and is also our School Holiday Programme Supervisor.
Jo Endres DipTch(Primary), BTch(ECE)
Jo is our Team Coordinator in the infants area, and brings with her a wealth of experience as she comes from a primary teaching background of 21 years. Jo is particularly fond of working with infants. She has a very peaceful, calm manner which creates a lovely atmosphere for our babies. She feels strongly about putting their needs first and providing individual learning programmes to support their interests and development.
Kim P BTch(ECE)
After working in each of our three age areas, Kim quickly discovered a passion for working with our infants. She has a very bubbly and playful nature. Children respond to this and quickly develop strong relationships with her.
Sacha Hobson
Our Under-2 children adore having Sacha in the centre. She is most often found sitting on the floor with the children, reading books or just having a chat. She is always available for hugs with our younger children.
Makere Reeves
Makere came to us during her first-year practicum from Waikato University in 2007. She started relieving with us shortly after this, and has recently taken up a permanent position in our infants area. Makere has experience with children of all ages, from infants to preschool to school aged.
Mary Kruger EC Teach Cert, DipTch(ECE) & Mum
Mary has twin daughters who have attended Midcity with her in the past, which helps her to relate to other parents Mary has a very gentle caring approach with the children, and is our transition teacher for children moving from infants to the toddler side.
Natalie Immink BTch(ECE)
Natalie is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher. She started out working in our infants but decided to take the leap over the fence to join our toddler area. Her quiet and caring nature is a real asset with these children, and they really enjoy spending some time with her reading or playing quiet games.
Haley Cullen Teacher
Haley has recently begun her Certificate in Early Childhood. She is a lively and energetic teacher, and has a real passion for working with our toddler age group.
Supporting Staff
Alice Miller Administration Support
Alice is a Waikato University student studying Business Management. She works part-time in the office with Shirlene, and occasionally works as a relief teacher when needed.
