Staff
The Management Team
We are NOT owned by a large Corporation. Our Trustee's and Licensee will be at the centre every week and available to talk with parents at anytime.
Shirlene Licensee & Manager Mum, DipECE & DipNursing
Shirlene has 3 precious children aged 3yrs-14yrs. She has worked in the industry for over 15 years. Shirlene believes that it is vital that children feel loved and cared for. She is also very passionate about providing quality care and believes children should find learning fun. Her aim would be that Midcity is a place that children, parents/caregivers, and staff would feel excited to be a part of.
Ange Assistant/Administration Manager Mum, DipECE
Ange is an outgoing and friendly person, who is a mum of 3 lovely girls. Ange has been in the Early Childhood Industry for 20 years and has worked in a variety of centres including her own for 8 years. Ange is really enjoying being a part of such a great team and is loving the interaction with children and parents.
Teachers
Infants' Side
Jo Infants' Team Coordinator BTch(ECE),DipTch(Primary)
Jo is our Team Coordinator in the infants area, and brings with her a wealth of experience as she comes from a primary teaching background of 21 years. Jo is particularly fond of working with infants. She has a very peaceful, calm manner which creates a lovely atmosphere for our babies. She feels strongly about putting their needs first and providing individual learning programmes to support their interests and development.
Kim BTch (ECE)
Kim is a caring, respectful and passionate teacher who puts the needs of the children first. She has a very bubbly and playful nature. Children respond to this and quickly develop strong relationships with her. One-on-one time with children is important to Kim as well as her ongoing professional development to enrich her teaching practises.
Natalie BTch(ECE)
Natalie is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher working in our infants' area. She is passionate about the Pikler philosophy which focuses on respect for children and allowing them to develop at their own pace. She has great powers of observation and enjoys seeing the delight when a child has learnt or discovered something new.
Sacha
Our infant children adore having Sacha in the centre. She is most often found sitting on the floor with the children, reading books or just having a chat. She is always available for hugs with our younger children.
Toddlers' Side
Louise Toddlers' Team Coordinator BA Honours
Louise has had experience with all ages of children in the centre and is currently our Team Coordinator in the Toddlers. She is a very bubbly, outgoing and enthusiastic person who enjoys getting messy with the children and who absolutely loves the colour PINK!! Louise is passionate about her role as a teacher and works hard to ensure that the children have a fun day in a great learning environment.
Dani GradDipECE
Dani is a friendly, approachable and very proactive person in work and life. Her teaching focus is on extending the current interests of children’s learning. She has secondary teaching experience in physical education and health and enjoys the benefits of a holistic lifestyle. When not at work Dani spends her time with Sanson(her dog) and going to the movies and dinner with her partner.
Kim BEd (Primary)
Kim is a fun loving and dedicated teacher with 5 years teaching experience in primary and early childhood. She has a passion for music, cooking, literacy, and Te Reo which she enjoys sharing with the children
Melanie(Mel)
Mel is from Cambridge and spent her early years growing up on a farm. She hasn’t been teaching for very long but feels it is her passion. In her spare time she enjoys socialising with friends, playing netball and cooking.
Kindy Side
Erena Kindy Team Coordinator BTch (ECE), Mum ,Currently on Maternity Leave
Erena is our Team Coordinator in the kindy side and has a particular interest in children's transition to school. She has a daughter who is in primary school and has experienced this transition to school for herself, so can empathise with parents who are going through this change. Erena also has a two year old son. and a new born daughter.
Jason
It's so great to have a male in our centre! Jason is loved by all the children, and has worked throughout the centre with all three age-groups of children. He is now a teacher in the kindy side, and the older children really enjoy having a male role model around.
Tracey
Having been born in NZ, Tracey moved to England for 15 years where she studied early years and worked in the education system. She has recently moved back to NZ. Tracey enjoys doing lots of different art activities with all the children on the Kindy side.
Supporting Staff
Bernie Chef
Bernie cooks all our nutritious meals and is adept at ensuring individual dietry needs are catered for. Bernie is an integral member of the Midcity team lending a hand caring for children of all ages. The children love her!
Alice Administration Support BMS
Alice finished her Bachelor of Management Studies in Dec 2010. Alice works part-time alongside Ange in the office and occasionally as a relief teacher or cook when needed.
Alice has now begun her Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood at Waikato University finishing in Dec 2011.
